Renovating an ’80s home into a contemporary residence that fits the specific needs of a homeowner is a task that is challenging enough. But the founder of Marco Costanzi Architetti was faced with a challenge that is far more unconventional and demanded greater sensitivity.

Even the grandest of homes often need a bit of a makeover after a decade or two. Designed originally by in 1973 this gorgeous oozes the opulence and extravagance that the city of LA is renowned for. But with changing times and altering design trends it was time to give its spacious interior a whole new sheen. This task fell to Maxime Jacquet who gave the lavish space and entirely new dynamic with warm neutral tones a multitude of textures and striking artwork that makes a daring visual statement.

The entryway and the façade were obviously left mostly untouched while the interior seems to play with light textures and design styles. There is indeed a very strong undercurrent of in the transformation that dates back to the early fifteenth century.

Located in the municipality this is one vacation home that focuses more on the outdoors than the indoors. Spread across three different levels the expansive home features breezy interiors that offer unabated views of the lush green mountains and the Pacific Ocean in the distance.

An open living area with a spacious dining room to entertain guests and a lovely kitchen with ample ventilation defines the house. A simple study that is partially connected with the living room three bedrooms with large glass windows to offer unobstructed views and three contemporary baths complete the house.

Combining warm natural hues with sleek modern design seems like a luxurious yet organic extension of the scenery that surrounds it. Incorporating several contrasting elements the striking rectangular silhouette of the house is comprised of various square boxes that seemingly borrow from the classic bush lodge design.
